Ciryl Gane continued to build momentum as a heavyweight title contender on Saturday when he beat Alexander Volkov in the UFC Fight Night 190 main event.
Gane (9-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) kept his perfect record in tact courtesy of a unanimous decision win over former Bellator champion Volkov (33-9 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in the headlining contest at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The Frenchman now has the longest active UFC winning streak at heavyweight with six fights, and he’ll surely be angling to fight for the belt next time out.

Very close first round.
Slight lean towards Gane. Volkov landed more volume, Gane more damage.

10-9 Gane. More impact. The confidence with which he throws his speed strikes is frightening. #UFCVegas30

Gane is too fast for Volkov to just stand there and wait for him. You let that guy hang out where he’s comfortable and he’ll pick you apart.

Cyril Gane is a nightmare for anybody in this division. It’ll be a constant head fuck for all trying to cope with that hand speed and accuracy #UFCVegas30

Where’s the attitude Volkov had against Harris and Overeem? I understand Gane is better than both of them, but I didn’t expect him to look this tentative. #UFCVegas30

Just the facial expressions alone are telling a lot in this fight. #UFCVegas30

Cyril Gane has no right to have this much ring savvy and fight IQ with so little experience. #ufcvegas30

Gane slowly finding his mean streak and taking control of the fight. Can’t count out Volkov though #ufcvegas30

Cormier making an argument for Gane-Volkov being a DRAW headed into the 5th. Nah bro. #UFCVegas30

Volkov’s corner tells him that whoever wins the 5th round wins the fight.

Uppercut from Gane. And a couple more jabs. Gane doubles up on the left and Volkov counters. Back to the jab for Gane. And a hard body kick. Another eye poke for Gane. This one much worse. #UFCVegas30

Awful eye poke by Gane in R5. Terrible.

Herb Dean opts to not take a point and the fight continues

Give me Jon Jones vs Cyril Gane. I can wait on Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones ! What a perfect matchup with the measured calculated approach by Jones and Gane!!!

Ciryl Gane is so technical and composed. Just has great IQ and fights like a veteran. Goes five rounds effortlessly once again 👌🏻#UFCVegas30

Ciryl Gane made his MMA debut a few weeks after DC beat Stipe, for God’s sake. His evolution in such a short time has been remarkable. He’s matured into an elite fighter right in front of our eyes. #UFCVegas30

Ciryl Gane now has the longest active UFC win streak in the heavyweight division with his 6th consecutive win. He passes champion Francis Ngannou and Marcin Tybura. #UFCVegas30

If they can figure out Ngannou-Lewis, and then can figure out Jones fighting the winner in Q1 2022, the truth is that means Miocic-Gane should be next. Only other fight that makes sense for Gane. Winner fights Ngannou/Lewis x Jones winner.
