Dave Spillane, who was one of Facebook’s top Irish executives, rising to the post of the social media giant’s chief accounting officer in Silicon Valley, has gone into jewellery and shiny things.

I see that Spillane, who sold about half his stake in Facebook at IPO for $4.25 million (€3.5 million), is now involved with the luxury brand Tara, aka the Artisan Row Accessories.

The venture — run by his wife Annette — “aims to empower women by encouraging them to express themselves while providing a platform for Filipino fashion to reach a worldwide market”. It does this by creating “interchangeable fine jewellery designed to keep up with the 24/7 lives that modern women lead”.

The interchangeability means that the sparkles can be plugged together
